Transforming lives, one person at a time

Five years ago, I became an ICF-certified coach and started supporting individuals and executives who were looking to move on to the next level of their lives and careers. It was the best thing I did for myself personally and the coaching journey has been totally rewarding.

As a Mental Fitness coach, I specifically support people around areas I personally resonate with. My failure to set loving boundaries in the past has cost me a lot of grief and unhappiness, and as dementia is a topic close to my heart, I know the real struggles that come with caring for a loved one with dementia – feelings of fear and being stuck, along with resentment, guilt, sorrow and regret, interlaced with emotions such as joy and intense love that seem intent on creating chaos in your life.

If you are wondering if coaching is the right fit for you, read below to see if you connect with the types of people I work with.

Women caring for parents or a spouse with dementia

  • You are struggling to come to terms with your loved one’s diagnosis
  • You are riddled with guilt and tossing between love, duty and commitment
  • You are breaking under the weight of caring for your loved one
  • You are experiencing feelings of resentment, frustration and anger due to your circumstances
  • You feel trapped, and are struggling to find balance between caring for your loved one and carrying on with your life
  • You feel alone and isolated in this journey

Those struggling to set healthy boundaries or find time for self-care

  • You often feel taken advantage of and feel underappreciated
  • You say ‘yes’ even if you don’t feel like it, and when or if you say ‘no’, you end up feeling guilty
  • You put other people’s needs ahead of yours and ignore what’s important to you
  • You often feel angry, frustrated, resentful, or restricted
  • You feel like you’re constantly trying to prove your worth by endlessly giving

Just like what exercise does for the body, Mental Fitness is about growing mental muscles that will help you thrive in challenging times, ultimately helping you to respond to life’s challenges with a positive rather than negative mindset.

Research shows that 80 percent of people score below the minimum level of mental fitness required for peak performance and happiness.

The good news is that with recent breakthroughs in neuroscience and technology, it is possible to improve your mental fitness significantly within six weeks of practice.

By training your mind to stop the self-sabotage and connect with your sage brain, you will experience increased productivity, happiness and peace of mind.

Mental Fitness is a measure of the strength of your positive mental muscles (Sage) versus the negative (Saboteur).

Saboteurs react to challenges in ways that generate negative emotions such as stress, disappointment, self-doubt, regret, anger, shame, guilt, or worry.

The Sage, on the other hand, handles challenges through positive emotions like empathy, gratitude, curiosity, creativity, self-confidence, and calm, clear-headed, laser-focused action.

The relative strength of your positive Sage versus negative Saboteurs is called PQ (Positive Intelligence Quotient). PQ is the measure of your Mental Fitness.

In his New York Times bestseller, Positive Intelligence, Shirzad Chamine summarizes the research behind breakthroughs in neuroscience, cognitive and positive psychology and performance science:

  • Saboteurs and Sage live in entirely different regions of the brain
  • You can cause a dramatic shift in brain activation to weaken Saboteurs and boost Sage
  • Three core muscles constitute mental fitness

Within six to eight weeks of mental fitness training, MRI imaging results show:

  • Increased grey matter in the PQ Brain region, where your Sage lives
  • Decreased grey matter in the Survivor Brain region, where your Saboteurs live

Designed like a Mental Fitness bootcamp, the PQ Program gives you the insights, motivation and structure to practice building these muscles for 15 minutes per day for six weeks. The program combines weekly video sessions with daily app-guided practices to boost your three core mental fitness muscles.

One-hour weekly video sessions
In these weekly sessions, Shirzad guides you through experiential exercises that deepen and personalize your understanding of the mental fitness tools. You leave inspired and energized for the week’s daily practices.

Guided daily practice via the exclusive PQ app
Each day, a different focus for daily practice is assigned through a personalized companion app available exclusively to program participants. This builds one small muscle at a time, laying down new neural pathways to form lasting positive habits of your mind. The cumulative impact by the end of the program is substantial.

You become part of a pod community
Depending on your package preference, you can either choose to experience this individually, or become part of a group of people undergoing the same experience using the app. Once a week, I will lead a 45-minute online accountability group meeting with your pod. Research proves you’re 500 percent more likely to succeed in this program when you partner with people who can offer accountability and support.

Me as Your Coach
I will serve as your coach during the entire program. I will personally lead and facilitate your weekly pod meetings. For those who prefer individual coaching in addition to the PQ App experience, an individualized coaching package is crafted to provide you with the support you need in addressing and overcoming problem areas in your life and work, specifically if you fall within the groups of people I coach.

  • You are able to commit to watching a 1-hour video once per week.
  • Do a combined total of 15 minutes per day of practice guided by the PQ app exclusively designed for this program.
  • Attend a weekly 45-minute pod meeting (if you chose to become part of a community) or commit to the assigned individual coaching sessions.
  • Finally, you must be 100 percent willing to put in the initial effort to rewire years of mental habits that don’t serve you.

Client Review

“With Shamayne’s help, I was able to talk about many things, from internal conflicts to issues at work. She used many analogies and prompted me to face my fears and anxieties that were holding me back.
Without such prompting, I had automatically dismissed many pathways that were
available to me”.
